The witness stamp is useful for any idea document, and especially useful for loose sheets that contain the first recorded thoughts of an invention. Samples of inventor witness stamps can be found by Clicking on the BLUE Button below left. Every inventor should have a basic witness stamp and someone to act as their regular witness.
Make sure that your regular witness is someone who will be available for you to call upon in the future (in case of a dispute over the documentation). Using your girlfriend / boyfriend may not be the best idea because if you end up marrying the person, or end the relationship permanently, their viability / availability as a witness may be lost.
You can create a witness stamp by taking a copy of the sample stamp information provided (click on blue button for info) to a store that can make or order custom stamps (the type that has an ink pad built in is the best type). This usually takes about 2-4 weeks for them to make the stamp. I recommend that you have it made as small as possible, but large enough to write in the information and sign without obscuring the stamp data.
